Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar through his pop-folk songs based on folk, many of them based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Denver, the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with the award in the year 2011. Denver is now the embodiment of Colorado to the many people across the globe. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff initially wrote the song using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the early versions that the song was going to be an instant success. He recorded it just a few days following having performed on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
